Smog Check Services We Offer

STAR Certified Smog Check

The DMV directs roughly 1 in 5 California vehicles to a STAR station. Our shop is certified to perform these inspections and to issue the official electronic certificate.

DMV Renewal Smog Test

Bring your renewal notice. We perform the inspection, transmit results to the DMV, and your registration renewal can be completed online the same day.

Change of Ownership Smog

California requires a current smog certificate for most ownership transfers. We provide same-day certificates for qualifying vehicles.

Smog Test & Repair

If your vehicle fails, we diagnose the cause, perform the repair, and retest on-site — no need to drive between shops.

Out-of-State Vehicles

New to California? We perform smog inspections required to title and register out-of-state vehicles with the DMV.

Light-Duty Vehicles Only

We test most cars, SUVs, vans, and pickups up to 14,000 lbs GVWR. Diesel vehicles 1998 and newer are welcome.

Do I need a smog check for a 1975 or older car?

No. California exempts 1975 model year and older gasoline-powered vehicles from biennial smog checks. Diesel vehicles 1997 and older with a GVWR of 14,000 lbs or less, and certain hybrids, may also be exempt.

My check engine light is on. Can I still get a smog check?

You can come in, but a steady check engine light is one of the automatic-fail conditions in California. We recommend bringing the vehicle in for diagnosis first — as a Test & Repair shop we can address the underlying code and then perform the smog test.
